A space where people and ideas meet
About Us
Školská 28
Communication Space and Gallery Školská 28 is dedicated to contemporary art, community engagement, and international cooperation. Our mission is to cultivate dialogue across cultures and disciplines, support emerging and established artists, and provide an inclusive platform for creative and civic initiatives. Operating under the Linhart Foundation, we build on a rich tradition of cultural innovation in the center of Prague.
A space for meeting and sharing
Since 1998, Školská 28 has served as a home for artists, creative minds, neighbours, and the wider public seeking a place for open exchange and collective reflection.
Our long‑term program is grounded in the values of non‑violent communication, thoughtful dialogue, and the search for shared perspectives across disciplines and cultures.
Current Role and Activities
Operated by the Linhart Foundation, Školská 28 has gradually evolved into a vibrant centre of cultural and community life.
It hosts exhibitions, discussions, workshops, screenings, and collaborative projects that connect art, education, and civic engagement.

Roots of dialogue, experimentation, and artistic courage
History
The Communication Space Školská 28 was established in 1999 by the Linhart Foundation as an open venue for contemporary art, experimentation, and community gathering. Under the leadership of Dana Recmanová, Miloš Vojtěchovský, Martin Blažíček, and Michal Kindernay, it gradually developed into a respected gallery focused on new media forms, sound projects, moving image, and site‑specific installations. Over the years, it has presented artists such as Martin Zet, Milan Guštar, Miloš Šejn, Tomáš Ruller, Jamie Drouin, Markéta Kubačáková, Viktor Čech, The Bureau of Melodramatic Research, as well as many emerging creators within student projects. The identity of the venue was long shaped by its distinctive logo designed for Školská 28 by Krištof Kintera.
After the curatorial program led by Dana Recmanová came to an end, the gallery continued to present contemporary art and welcomed a new generation of notable artists, including Stanislav Doležal, Karolína Mitášová, Petr Králík, Zdeněk Fáňa Svoboda, Chungpo Tsering, Joska Skalník, Hanna Alisa Omer, and Juan David Cevallos.
The gallery realized dozens of exhibitions, residency projects, and interdisciplinary events, including programs dedicated to experimental music, media archaeology, and environmental themes. Its uniquely articulated architecture encouraged site‑specific installations, and the curatorial approach embraced experimentation and cross‑disciplinary overlap. In this way, Školská 28 became an important centre of independent culture in Prague.
